Answer each question in essay format. In this case, an essay consists of a fully developed paragraph or 8-10 sentences. Underline the thesis statement. 1) Introduction: Your textbook provides five functions for the speech introduction.  Identify these functions, and explain their importance to a public speech.

2) Questions: You are presenting a speech in class you know to be highly controversial.  Using a hypothetical topic, develop four questions for a questionnaire to find out as much as possible about your audience’s attitudes, beliefs, and values concerning this topic.  Use two open ended questions and two close ended questions.

3) Supporting Material: What types of supporting material must be orally cited?  How can you insure that these sources will be properly cited?

4) Topics: Please identify two speech topics presented during the informative round and explain their strengths and weaknesses.  For example, verbal/non-verbal signals, language, organization, specific purpose, and central idea. Specify examples.

5) Audience Recall: Identify and briefly define two of the four ways your textbook provides for enhancing audience recall for an informative speech.
