According to the article “Families and Drugs Use.” I found out that drug addictions can start by
family. This article is about how people gets into Drugs, Alcohol, Tobacco by families. It says that started in
1990, a lot of people in this country started to use drugs. Scientifically, it is really hard to quit drugs when you
start. Because Drugs, Alcohol, and Tobacco existed for a long time, even some parents are using drugs while
they are raising up their kids. When they researched about how kids are getting into drugs, it is started from
singleparents, disorganized parents. Because of them, their kids gets into drugs and they make their friends to
start the drug. Not only that, this article talked about how parents get divorced and kids start to do drugs
because they wanted to forget about the pain that their parents are divorced. The solution for this is that there
should be more complicated laws on marriage and drug test for every parents. My other thought is that kids
should get drug tested every few years, randomly.

article. Family violences is founded from singleparents to extended families which can be grandparents,

uncle, aunt, cousins, etc. First, intimate partner violence starts from women. Scientifically women are ten
times more likely intimate relationship with men. This means that when they have a violence situations, that
means it is spreaded weigh against women in a relationship. Child abuse is one of the family violence too.
Child abuse comes from disorganized families or singleparents. Not only violence, sexual abuse is part of the
child abuse too. Solution for this is that neighbors or people that who knows about child getting abuse can call
911 and they will get a treatment from child protective services and their parents will be in trouble by laws.

Behavior. Ed. Rosalyn CarsonDeWitt. 2nd ed. Vol. 2. New York: Macmillan Reference USA, 2001.

Lex, Barbara talks about substance abuse and family life, addiction, violence in this article.
The researcher of Family violence found out that abuse is related with psychological disorder in around 20
percent of the case. The author is saying that the important thing about fixing this situation is not treatment, it
is from the history of their family. Because everything starts from the history. The one thing that I realized
from this article is that child abuse or family violence starts from alcohol and drugs. I saw a lot of situations
like this from South Korea. My friend’s parents are alcoholic and my friend always had new scars on his
body. Because their parents got reported, they are in stopping alcoholic services and my friend lives by
himself now. It is very unfortunate for people who doesn’t have an organized parents because they are
basically living their life by themselves without helping. The solution for this is to call services for stopping
drugs and alcohol and tell your closest friend to ask for a help.
STRAUS, MURRAY A. “Family Violence.” Encyclopedia of Sociology. 2nd ed. Vol. 2. New York: Macmillan
Reference USA, 2001. 981987. Gale Virtual Reference Library. Web. 28 Oct. 2014.
Murray, the author talks about family violences and solutions in his article. One thing that I found in
this article is “Gender Inequality”. In America, most of people think that male/husband is the head of the
family. Which is true. Even in Asia, most people think that the husband is the head of the family. This causes
family violences when husbands are disorganized and uneducated. Head of the family means that they have
right to say anything and the family have to follow him. The article showed me that people who aren’t
organized and uneducated but head of the family, can ruin their family by violences and abuses to childrens.

Because most husbands gain more money than their wives, they can fight them back with the money problems
or anything that husband’s dislike things. “The higher the level of nonfamily violence in a society, the higher
the rate of child abuse and spouse abuse (Levinson 1989; Straus 1977).” This shows us the solutions. If the
violence disappears, there won’t be any more child abuse and spouse abuse anymore.
“Family Law: Domestic Violence.” Gale Encyclopedia of Everyday Law. Ed. Shirelle Phelps. Vol. 1. Detroit:
Gale, 2003. 619624. Gale Virtual Reference Library. Web. 28 Oct. 2014.
According to this article, domestic violence starts mostly from adult intimate relationships. Domestic
violence is the most under reported crimes in United States and the 92 percent of domestic violence is related
to females. Domestic Violence is similar to “head of the family” situations. Not only Domestic violence;
family violence, child abuse, spouse abuse mostly starts from “head of the family”. This article is telling that
if Domestic violence continues and if no one helps, it can be leaded to killing someone. The solution for this is
up to victims. If they are too scared of telling people that they are getting abused by their parents or any of em
from the family, they cannot solve this situations. Asking for a help is the best way to survive from Violences.

2nd ed. Vol. 4. New York: Macmillan Reference USA, 2003. 15981603. Gale Virtual Reference
Library. Web. 28 Oct. 2014.
David Lester, the author of this article talks about how people can go through suffer and suicide. One
of his topic was about martial status and the family. David talks about how people commit suicide from
divorcing or family violences. It is true that a lot of people in the society divorce for a lot of reasons.
However, a lot of people don’t commit suicide after divorcing because they probably found new relationship
with others or there wasn’t any violences before. However, when there’s violences or abuses, people suffer
from it and they might think of commit suicide. Solution for this is to think of the way to solve divorce
situations and become more happy with family. If that doesn’t work, ask for a help.
