Topic 3: Should all states require motorcyclists and passengers to wear helmets?

The reason which made me come up with the above mentioned topic is that the number of loss of lives as a result of motorcycle accidents has been rising steadily. Many people believe that the situation would be brought under control in the event that both the motorcyclist, as well as, passengers made good use of protective gear such as the helmet. Most motorcycle users are ignorant and thus overlook the wearing of helmets. Research indicates that most of the fatalities brought about by motorcycle accidents are as a result of sever head injuries which can be avoided by wearing helmets. In this case, the targeted audience who I will be seeking their opinions are the law scholars, the human rights group, as well as, the public in general. It will also target the law makers who are required to formulate laws which will compel the motorcyclists together with the passengers to wear helmets. In that regard, the thesis statement will be “Motorcyclists and their passengers should be required to put on helmets so as to ensure that they are protected against fatal injuries in the event that they are involved in an accident”.
