Create a digital media video

Select ONE of the following options for your Final Project:

I. Paper: A research paper about a digital media topic
II. Creative Digital Media Project: Create a video or a podcast
III. Assignment #3: *** All students must turn in the Final Project/Paper Proposal on Moodle on Friday, May 13th, by 11 pm in Assignment #3 Moodle DropBox
*** Completed Final Papers and Projects are due on Wednesday, May 25th by 11 pm on Moodle or OwnCloud. No exceptions, especially since I may not be facilitating the COMM 203 course during that time. However, you may submit your project earlier if you wish, the Moodle DropBox and OwnCloud Folder will be accepting submissions starting on Friday, May 20th.

Project I: A research paper on an issue or topic relating to digital media such as gaming, film, social media, drones, robots, technology, or advertising strategies. Include thorough knowledge about the social context, history, culture, technology, and innovativeness of the topic. You will want to organize your paper based upon a specific topic such as (some actual published research examples):

• How men’s fitness magazines define masculinity through discussions of food and body
• Beyonce, the media and marital strife
• Critical analysis of Internet Memes Themed with Asian and Asian Americans
• Representation of Same-Sex Relationships in Television

Your paper should be 3 – 5pages, Times New Roman 12 pt. font, double-spaced, stapled, printed, include 3 – 4 citations, and in MLA or APA format.

Project II: Create a digital media video or podcast. Include a one-page summary, describing your project and how it utilizes and critiques media.

All projects with their typed descriptions must be submitted online via OwnCloud.

Descriptions/Summaries must be typed, one page, Times New Roman 12 pt. font, and in MLA or APA format.

a. Digital videos should be converted into MP4 format. Digital videos will inform and critique a topic (lighting, sound, camera angles, acting), and should be at least 1 – 3 minutes long.
b. Podcasts should be converted into a MP3 format. You will be graded on content, editing, and audio techniques (must be audible), and should be 1 – 3 minutes long. Thoughtful topics, excellent speaking, and audio presentation are encouraged.
