Criminology goes to the Movies

Final Essay: Criminology goes to the Movies

In this final essay, you are to choose an “artifact” of “popular criminology” (Rafter and Brown 2011) – particularly a movie or series that dramatizes one of the criminological perspectives reviewed in our class or highlighted in the readers. Your movie selection should be posted on Blackboard’s discussion board.

Your essays should primarily focus on explaining a criminological theory by demonstrating or exemplifying how this theory is “imagined” in popular culture. Here, you may find areas to critique the authenticity of the movie.

· 30% of essay should describe a move/series of your choice as an example of your theory in action.
