employing terms

First, describe the scene in detail, employing terms from the filmic analysis reading and our course discussions.  Interpret the meaning of this scene and all of it’s elements in terms of the larger film’s narrative and artistic structure.

You should also interpret the meaning of the scene in terms of the audience’s emotional response to the scene and the larger response to the film itself.

You also need to describe how the cultural context of the film adds meaning to the scene.  Analyze the ways that these various meanings converge.

Embedded within your paper, you should include a brief description of the movie in your paper.  Your description should, ideally be about two sentences long.  More than four sentences of description is too long.

NOW you’re ready to write your paper.  Develop an argumentative thesis that draws together these elements of cultural and filmic literacy explaining how the filmic and narrative dimensions of the film (and scene) work to accomplish something specific for the viewer.  Pull together the key ideas from your research to develop a convincing argument for your reader.
