Instructions

 Visualize yourself working as a nutrition consultant: You recognize the gap between producers and consumers regarding where food is actually coming from and how it is grown. As a nutrition consultant, you want to educate yourself in this area. Suppose you want to explore some of the factors that impact the production of various grain crops. For this Assignment, choose your favorite grain and address the following questions:

1. Where is this product typically grown? (For example, is it grown in the United States? Which states are known for producing this grain?)

2. Why is this location particularly suitable for this type of crop? Factors to consider include; land availability, climate, soil type or condition, geography, and the availability of other natural resources.

3. Is this product available to you as a “locally-grown” commodity? 4. What are some of the ways weather may impact a given year’s crop? 5. Would you consider this to be a common grain, familiar to the average consumer? 6. What are some factors that may influence consumer demand for this grain?

 The expectation is for this Assignment is a 1–2 page, APA formatted paper with references as appropriate.
