Military Total Institution

The projected outcomes for students enrolled in this course include:

1. Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Military Total Institution.

2. Understand the linkage between the Military Total Institution and veteran

re-‐acculturation problems.

3. Recognizing that many veterans return to the civilian society with the

baggage they acquired from the Military Total Institution

4. Understanding the significance/importance of the need for veterans to be re-

acculturated back into the civilian culture.

5. Be able to identify and understand the problems germane to veterans as they

attempt to re-‐acculturate back into the civilian culture. The veteran who has

left the military is not the same person who initially entered the military.

6. Recognize and address external and internal veteran biases.

7. Learning to look forward, while recognizing the importance of referencing

the past.

8. Resource availability and development.

9. Helping yourself by helping other veterans and their families/significant

others.

10.Re-‐acculturation plan development
