Polarized Pluralist

Instructions:

We have studied the Hallin and Mancini Models. We looked at the four variables – media market, political parallelism, professionalism, and state intervention. We also talked about three other media elements – media access, media audience, and media import & export.

In this essay your job is to identify a media problem in any country’s media system (related to Hallin and Mancini Models, and four variables.) and write a position paper to address that problem. The media problem could be any problem in e.g. media content, regulation, ownership and funding, access (government control vs. free flow of information on the Internet), audience (Transformation of audience), and import & export (Ethnocentric, exocentric, worldcentric, and implications).

Specifically, you identify a country first. Then, find out who your paper is addressing to. Next, lay out the problem existing in your chosen country’s media system. Write a persuasive analysis to suggest possible policy adjustment or policy change in order to address the identified media problem. In your essay, you may critically apply what you learned so far.

Appropriate citations are needed. Word count: 1,000 words.
