Teaching problem-solving strategy

Critique (1)

Teaching problem-solving strategy will definitely help reducing the teaching efforts and enhance the learning outcomes for student in the long run. I think that such a strategy is essential in all aspects of life. This raise a question of teaching this strategy; is teaching the problem-solving strategy in a separate course more effective than teaching the strategy in each related subject? I would like to know what do you think about this.

Critique (2)

As I mentioned before, this chapter by Driscoll (2005) was the most complex and sophisticated chapter we had so far. Discussing different aspects concerning neurology and its relation to learning and how the brains parts function in favor for this notion. Your reflection demonstrated a good understanding of this chapter and I wanted to ask you, do you think knowing the biology of learning will increase our chances of achieving a better design of instruction?

Another thing, what did you meant by teaching problem solving as a monolithic ability and why do you think it’s not a good way for teaching such strategies?
