Research Synthesis

The student will select a question of interest and respond to the question using the appropriate reading in no more than 2-3 pages, double spaced.

Scoring Rubric/Criteria

Clarity of response to question

Clearly articulated a response to the question posed, concise and to the point; (5)

Mostly well articulated, answered parts of the question, not written concisely; (3)

A bit vague, with little response to the question, poorly written (1)

Flow of Paper

Paper has good structure, with an opening and a closure. Paragraphs have topic sentences

that flow clearly from one paragraph to the next telling a “story” in answering the questions; (5)

1. During our discussion, we talked about parents perceptions of their child’s fundamental motor skill competence. It seemed as though we thought there were some variables regarding the parents that were missing, such as parent motor skill competence or physical activity levels. Using the extant research base, explain and describe a (or several) parent related variables that may impact the physical activity or motor skill competence of their child.

1. Use research to explain at what point in life gender differences occur pertaining to motor skill development.
