In reviewing the literature for your research topic it is important you learn how to utilize the NCU Library and its databases. In this section you will be given experience using a number of database tools. You will begin with EBSCOhost databases. They are full-text, scholarly, peer-reviewed journals, trade publications, magazines, newspapers in areas of business, psychology, and education.

Research and Evaluate Dissertations
When starting to look for a topic to research it is oftentimes difficult to come up with an interesting idea and one that you feel will make a real contribution to the field. One technique to begin with to help you come up with an idea is reviewing past dissertations. This activity is designed to provide you with experience searching and reviewing past dissertations. The NCU Library has a number of dissertations at http://library.ncu.edu/ncu_diss/default.aspx and dissertation databases available at http://search.proquest.com.proxy1.ncu.edu/pqdtft?accountid=28180. Over 600,000 full text works are available at the ProQuest Dissertations database.

Assignment:
Select an area of interest and find three dissertations in that area. Evaluate the research that was done in each of the dissertations and recommend changes for improvements. In addition, close with a list of APA formatted citations for all of the sources you found.

Length of paper: 5-7 pages, double spaced using 12 point font.

Your writing should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are required for the assignment. Responses should reflect scholarly-level writing standards and have no spelling, grammar, or syntax errors.
