1. Select a portfolio of common stocks in five companies whose stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Base your selection of stocks on your own personal willingness to take risks. Look up the beta of each company. Using equal weights, compute the portfolio beta, showing your work. Discuss how the portfolio beta compares to your own willingness to take risks. Discuss whether you would rather hold an individual stock or a portfolio of stocks. This one only has to be one page long.

 

2. Using the company you chose for your Action Plan, select a trend that you might incorporate within your strategy. Identify one pro and one con relative to this business, incorporating a new social media trend within its marketing strategy. Provide your reasoning for selecting this trend. In responding to your classmates’ posts, what contingencies might you recommend that they incorporate within their strategy to address possible negative implications of this trend? The company that I choose was Starbucks and this can be between a page or a page and a half long.

 

3. Describe the significance of examining specific case studies. Conduct your own research and find your own case. Post the link here. Describe what social media marketing tools and tactics were utilized and comment on their success.  The one only has to be one age long.

4. It is important that a marketer understand his or her organization and define the overall business strategy in order to select the appropriate criteria for evaluating value, use, and possibilities in social media trends. Select a company and discuss the following:

  • What is the type of business?
  • Who are the target markets?
  • Define the geography. What other qualitative or quantitative characteristics define the targets? This article provides a thorough listing of target market considerations.
  • What is the positioning strategy?
  • What differentiates this company from its competitors?

This assignment has to be 3-4 pages long and the company again is Starbucks.
