Whitman promises
In “Crossing Brooklyn Ferry,” Whitman promises to make a deep connection between himself and the reader despite the reader living in the future. At first, he tries to accomplish this by pointing out the sights and sounds of the city his reader will share with him. But what is it that he ultimately focuses on in order to make a connection with his reader? Why does this work?
