writing a business lette

Think about some of the reasons for writing a business letter, and some of the reasons you might need to write one in your daily life or future career. Perhaps you are asking for a job or accepting one? Applying for a scholarship, grant or school loan? Requesting an interview or letter of recommendation? Complaining to your landlord? Ordering or returning a product? For this assignment, write a one-page business letter using one of the topics listed below.

· Your supervisor at work has put you in charge of soliciting gifts from local businesses which you will sell at a company fundraising auction. Write to a business asking them to donate a gift. Include specifics about your fundraiser and what you are asking for.

· You are a parent writing to your child’s school principal to request a meeting to talk about an issue (it could be specific to your child’s work or something related to school policies or an event).

· You are the owner of a small business (such a café or restaurant) responding to a recent customer complaint or bad Yelp review (pretend you know their name and address).

· You recently had dinner at a local restaurant and want to complain because of the food or service during the meal.

· You want to thank a person or group of people for donating to a charity or for doing something else noteworthy.
