When you consider the bible, culture and church, remember the context. Often we think of “church” as those denominations that we see across the US. So too most derive their image of Jesus from medieval and renaissance European art. Yet we know that Jesus was a middle eastern Jew. Consider other cultures around the world. In these pictures you’ll see Jesus as depicted in different cultures.

What do you think of when you use the word church? How much of this is biblical and how much is cultural?
