Please respond in essay form to the following prompt. Your essay should have a thesis statement, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You should use specific examples (not direct quotes) when possible to support your points. You should not take more than 90 minutes to complete your essay.

Many of the works we have read during the second half of the semester can be viewed as reform-oriented in that they seek to critique or even overtly change particular sociopolitical beliefs or cultural institutions. Using four of the works we have studied during the second half of the term, discuss some of the criticisms they offer of American life, the models for reform they offer, and whether or not (in your view) they offer valid or workable solutions to the problems they raise.
