WA #2 — Assignment Instructions: Research Report Proposal

Objective:

For Written Assignment #2, you are to submit a 2-page report that includes an audience analysis and request for approval of a Research project. You are required to choose among the topics listed below.

Due Dates:

Draft Copy: Sunday, January 31 – due last day of Week 3 (by 11:59 PM)

Final: Sunday, February 7 – due last day of Week 4 (by 11:59 PM)

Week 3 Rough Draft Feedback: We provide feedback to help you understand the assignment and the development of your argument on the rough draft. However, we don’t edit the rough drafts for writing style and grammatical errors, etc. You may submit questions about grammar, writing style, and APA in discussion forum, or you may also find it useful to work with the Effective Writing Center.

No Late Rough Drafts: If you miss the deadline, work with the tutors at the Effective Writing Center for feedback.

Week 4 Final Graded Submissions: The late penalty for the final version of assignments is 10% (20 points each day). If there are extenuating circumstances, please advise me by e-mail beforehand.

Complete this assignment using the following memo format for the first four lines, then proceed with the Report as specified below:

· Some basic research is required for this assignment. You may incorporate, if you like, a few of the sources that you will explore in doing the Research Paper

· Review the learning materials (especially ‘Report Writing and Research’ under Course Modules and Units 4 and Unit 5 under eReadings).

· The Research Report Proposal should highlight the important issues of your chosen subject matter, enough so that it will convince the recipient to give you approval to carry out a larger Research Paper on that subject. Compared to the actual Research Paper, however, the Research Report Proposal will be of a more general nature.

· Single space and block left (that is, no indent) each paragraph

· Use a double-space between each paragraph

· Use Times New Roman, 11 or 12 point only in Word, please. No rtf or pdf files when submitting , please.
