Instructions

 Information about a particular food being associated with a positive or negative health outcome can influence consumption and production of that food. For many consumers, nuts and seeds have been viewed as a “high-fat” food that should be consumed in limited amounts. However, scientific research is demonstrating that consuming nuts and seeds can provide many health benefits particularly related to cardiovascular disease and other chronic illnesses.

 Your job is to consider how and where information about nuts and seeds is being presented to consumers. For this Assignment identify, describe, and evaluate four avenues through which information is presented to consumers regarding the health benefits of nuts. Some examples could include; product labels, company or commodity group websites, community workshops, medical professionals, and marketing campaigns/commercials. Ask yourself if these are effective and appropriate sources of information and how consumer education can impact food demand and production.
